Abstract
271,043. Pechkranz, R. May 14, 1926, [Convention date]. Diaphragms for apparatus of the filter-press type are mounted in frames of circular, elliptical, or polygonal contour; the frames should contain no internal angle of less than 90‹. The frames may bent while hot from a single part and joined by a single welding; they may alternatively be made by casting or moulding. The frames may be of U- section. Inside the frame e, partitions i, j are welded forming ducts g, h for electrolyte and gases. One cr more similar ducts may be formed at the bottom of the. frame. Diaphragm partitions of suitable form are cut at the factory while hot and waste material returned at once to be smelted. The frame may be partly curved and partly rectilinear. It may be of iron or other metal or of non.metallic material.
