Abstract
415,031. Casting processes. BOSMENT, A. J. M., 3, Route de Moyeuvre, Joeuf, France. Feb. 13, 1933, No. 4346. [Class 83 (i).] Moulds.-In casting molten metal splashing is prevented by placing a metallic mattress in the mould. A strip of wire gauze, or perforated sheet or both, preferably of the same metal as that to be cast, is coiled to form a cylindrical or polygonal body 3, which is placed, with its axis vertical, in the bottom of the mould 1. If the molten metal enters the mould at the bottom the body is covered with a metal sheet held in position by a weight or a rod.
