Abstract
271,030. Siemens &. Halske Akt.-Ges. May 17, 1926, [Convention date]. Type-printing telegraphs.-In a type-printing receiver provided with a type-wheel shaft positioned by a step-by-step rotation, the circuit of the printing magnet includes two contacts of which one is held open, while the shaft is rotating, by a lever with a retarded return movement, and the other is closed by the rotation of the shaft and is opened by the actuation of the magnet armature. The rapid withdrawal of the printing hammer prevents smudging of the record. The printing hammer 27 is carried by the armature lever 2, pivoted at 3, of a magnet 4 of which the circuit includes contacts at 16 and 26. The type-wheel shaft 1 carries a wheel 7 provided with teeth corresponding to the steps in the selection and engaged by rollers 11, 21 on levers 9, 19 under the action of springs 10, 20 respectively. As the shaft rotates the lever 9 acts on a projection 12 on a lever 14 to open the contact at 16 against a weak returning spring 13, and the contact is not closed again until the rotation ceases prior to the printing operation. The rotation also operates the lever 19 to close the contact at 26 and the lever is looked in this position by the end of a bell-crank lever 22 held by a spring 24 against a stop 25 until printing takes place. During the printing operation the bellcrank is actuated to release the lever 19 by an arm 32 carried by the lever 2.
