Abstract

Piling.-In metal sheet piling of S or Z shape the adjacent sheets are connected together, outside the neutral zone of the wall, either directly or by intermediate members, connecting parts being shaped as single or double wedges which grip each other on two sides. Preferably the interlocking members lie flush on one side of the jointed pile sheets, and the coustruction is such as to enable the joints to be located outside the neutral zone of the piling. Fig. 1 shows a construction using an intermediate member b which is bent over at the edges d, e to interlock with correspondingly formed edges of the sheets a. Fig. 3 shows a construction in which each sheet a is formed with a wedgeshaped section f which engages in a corresponding groove on the other sheet. Fig. 4 shows a simpler type of joint.
