Abstract

269,761. Manfred, O. July 3, 1926. Extrusion machines.-Homogeneous plastic masses of artificial horn are obtained by prepressing the mixtures through individual slits by a common pressure and then subjecting the whole to a final pressure. The apparatus comprises an extrusion machine in the orifice of which are inserted a plurality of dies a, b provided with parallel ribs a<1>, Fig. 4, or radial ribs z, Fig. 22, of varying cross-section so that the material is subjected to pressures of varying strength. A core k may be inserted between the dies to prevent premature joining of the material. The usual nozzle e may be replaced by one having an inset member f, Fig. 12, formed with an orifice x narrowing outwardly.
