171,432. Mond, A. L., (Cellon-Werke, Dr. A. Eichengr³n). July 9, 1920. Addition to 147,904. Processes. - Relates to an improvement in the process described in the parent Specification. The hot pressed mass is forced through narrow channels f which have either an irregular cross-section or are arranged in bends, for example, as a zigzag. The mass may be thus extruded into a hollow mould screwed upon the pressing mould, mc ulded articles being thus produced direct. Core pieces, of materia such as metal, may be inserted and thus enclosed, or a plurality of small moulds may be ir serted in the mould to produce a number of smaller articles. Celluloid-like or ebonite-like plastic masses produced by known methods from cellulose acetate may also be treated, and the cellulose acetate may be replaced by or mixed with other cellulose esters such as formyl cellulose, aceto-nitrocellulose, nitrocellulose and the like, or by cellulose ethyl ether and the like. In addition to the filling used, other substances such as colouring matters, pigments, dyes, softening agents, and other cellulose esters may be admixed with the disintegrated plastic mass prior to pressing.
