Abstract

Hollow threads, bands, tubes and the like, having a cavity extending along their length with periodically or aperiodically differing crosssection are produced from synthetic thermoplastic materials by expressing a molten spinning mass through nozzle apertures in the bores of which are inserted cores constructed as hollow mandrels through which a cavity-forming medium is blown or sucked intermittently. The cavity-forming medium, e.g. air, may be blown or sucked through the hollow mandrel at constant or varying pressure at equal or irregular intervals. The products may be used as effect threads, as heat insulating material and as stuffing material for upholstery, mattresses and cushions.ALSO:Hollow threads, bands, tubes and the like, having a cavity extending along their length with periodically or a periodically differing cross-section, are produced from synthetic thermoplastic materials by expressing a molten spinning mass through nozzle apertures in the bores of which are inserted cores constructed as hollow mandrels through which a cavity-forming medium is blown or sucked intermittently.
