Abstract

269,682. Brown, R. F. Jan. 26, 1926. Surface markings.-Road-surface markings for traffic guidance are formed of pieces of transparent or other material A, B secured to a backing strip of fabric or like material C which supports them while they are being embedded in the plastic road material F. The backing, which has sufficient lateral flexibility to permit of laying the marking pieces in curved lines, is either attached, as shown, to the wearing or upper surfaces of the pieces and subsequently stripped off, or is attached to the under surfaces of the pieces and remains embedded in the road material. In the form shown, light-coloured marking cubes A of marble or vitrified clay are interspersed with glass cubes B.
