Abstract

670,107. Road-traffic signs. INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS, Ltd. June 22, 1950 [June 16, 1949; July 20, 1949], Nos. 16080/49 and 19103/49. Class 3 (ii). An elongated rectangular road marking strip 10 of resilient material has a flat bottom surface to be in contact with the road surface and a top surface which is bevelled towards all four edges from a central point, line or area, one or more longitudinal rows of light reflecting beads 12 being embedded in the strip. The strips are made of rubber or a resilient plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride and the bevelling 11 is wide or narrow as desired. They are fixed to the road surface by an adhesive. The adhesive may be applied to the road surface and the strip applied when it is tacky or the road surface may be treated with a bituminous binder and the strip applied with a hot iron. Nails may be used in addition, the nails either having a large head or being used with a flanged washer. The light reflecting glass beads 12 may have their undersurface silvered if desired and may be located in channels 17 in the strip to prevent contact with vehicles.
