Abstract

269,645. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., (United Shoe Machinery Corporation). Jan. 19, 1926. Lasting.-An end binder adapted to be applied about the end of a shoe over the sole margin on the tread side has a flat upper-engaging face 4 of substantial width adapted to lie parallel with the feather of the insole, or a part 2 of considerable depth and strength adapted to lie parallel with the insole lip, and, preferably, both these features in combination. The binder may be of galvanized iron or of leather board, and is, preferably, forced into place by the wipers a of the lasting machine. Holes 6 are provided so that the positioned binder may be tacked in position. The binder serves as a guide for inseam trimming, and is removed before welting, the angular binder having moulded the upper margin into place.
