Abstract

Charges, conveying. - Relates to a leer for annealing plate or sheet glass which is produced intermittently in long strips. According to the invention, the strips are carried through the leer bv rollers which are in two groups driven at different speeds. The rollers R1 of the first group receive a strip F of glass from the rolling- apparatus and carry it forwards, at the relatively high speed of rolling, until the glass has set. The strip then passes on to the rollers R3 of the second group which convey it at a slower speed that allows the glass to be annealed by the time the strip leaves the leer. The number of rollers in each of the groups may be varied to suit the length of the glass strips and the speed of rolling. A series of rollers R2, free to rotate in their bearings, is arranged between the two groups of driven rollers and facilitates the passage of the sheet from the one group to the other.
