Abstract

269,362. Everton, Ltd., E. T., and Padmore, A. T. June 21, 1926. Covers for dishes and the like.-In a cover for butter dishes &c. of the kind having double walls to receive hot or cold water, ventilating means are provided for the interior which may consist of a tube 15 connecting the inner metal casing 11 with the exterior of the outer one 10. In addition, ridges are provided in the base of the cover to afford air inlets. The tube 15 is secured to the inner casing by turning over flanges 16, 12 thereon, which initially are formed as shown in Fig. 3, and the inner and outer casings are similarly joined. To prevent the entrance of flies &c. to the inner casing, a slotted metal cap 22 is placed over the protruding end of the tube 15 and secured in position by turning over the flange 23. A flanged opening 26 having a screwed stopper 27 is provided in the outer casing. In a modification, the tube may be replaced by a rod having a small hole drilled down the centre and provided with reduced ends which are opened out by a punch when in position.
