Abstract
269,260. Milner, H. L. Oct. 13, 1925. Screw propellers. - Screw propeller blades are constructed with longitudinals upon which a metal sheet is deposited electrolytically. The longitudinals may carry transverse ribs and are preferably of light deep cross-section. The longitudinals 2, 3 are recessed at intervals to carry ribs 5 and at the roots are bent to fit in a bush 6. The framework is placed in a mould, preferably touching the mould, and filled with a fusible or soluble material. On removal of the mould, the fusible material is coated with graphite or the like, and a thin skin of a metal such as nickel or copper is then electrolytically deposited thereon. If desired, the fusible or solid material may be removed by melting or otherwise. The mould is produced from a mould of plaster of paris which has been developed from a wooden template or model of the required blade form.
