Abstract

268,964. Oppenheim, F. S. April 12, 1926. Fittings, internal.-In a packing-case having removable lining elements for spacing the contents of the case from the outer walls thereof the top liner has part of its lower surface upwardly recessed to accommodate projecting parts of the contents and rests on the side and end liners while cushioning the contents and spacing it from the top of the case. As shown in Fig. 1 the end liners 18 are of traylike form and the top liner 23 is formed from a blank of corrugated cardboard cut and folded to form the upwardly projecting recess 23a and side and end channels 23<b>, 23<c>, the liner 23 resting on the side and end liners 18 and having side and end walls 23<d> which space the liner and contents from the top of the case. In a modification the top liner is formed as a pair of adjacent tray-like parts, the recess of one part accommodating the projecting parts of the contents of the case. In another form, Fig. 6, the central upwardly recessed portion 223 of the top liner is surrounded by channelled marginal portions 225 which have projecting side flaps 226 which rest on the side and end liners 218.
