Abstract

268,933. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Ltd., Shepherdson, A., and Davidson, A. March 1, 1926. Anthraquinone derivatives. - Acetate silk or mixtures containing it are dyed by means of coeramidines (anthraquinoneacridines), which may be obtained bv heating a-arylaminoanthraquinones with sulphuric acid. The dyestuffs may be employed in the form of aqueous suspensions or solutions. A dispersing agent, e.g. turkey red oil or the naphthalene derivative described in Specification 224,077 may be added to the dyebath or previously mixed with the dyestuffs. The dyestuffs from the following arylaminoanthraquinones, with the shades obtained on acetate silk, are specified :-1-phenylamino, 1-phenylamino-2-methyl-, 1: 5-diphenyldiamino-, 1: 4-di-p-tolyldiamino-, and 1-amino-4- or 5)-p-tolylaminoanthraquinones. In an example, acetate silk is dyed a full greenishyellow with the coeramidine from 1-phenylaminoanthraquinone. 1.-Amano-5-p-tolylaminoanthraquinone is obtained from 1-amino-5-chloranthraquinone and p-toluidine.
