Abstract
Colloidal solutions of aminoanthraquinones, for dyeing acetyl silk, are prepared by mechanical disintegration, or by solution in some solvent miscible with water, the solution being then poured into the dyebath; an emulsifying-agent or protective colloid, such as a sulphonated oil, may be used as the solvent or added to the dyebath.ALSO:Cellulose acetate silk, or fabrics containing it, is dyed by means of aminoanthraquinones. The aminoanthraquinone is used in the dye-bath in a fine suspension or in colloidal solution. Thus the amino compound may be merely suspended in the dye-bath with or without addition of an emulsifying-agent such as soap or Turkey-red oil, or the amino compound may be brought into colloidal solution by mechanical disintegration, or by solution in some solvent member with water, the solution being then poured into the dye-bath; an emulsifying-agent or protective colloid, such as sulphonated oil, may be used as the solvent or added to the dye-bath. The following products are specified as suitable: 1-aminoanthraquinone, 1-amino-2-methylanthraquinone, 1 :4- or 1 : 5-diaminoanthraquinone, 1-amino-4-oxyanthraquinone, diaminoanthrarufin, and diaminoanthrarufin methylated in one or both amino groups; these dye acetyl silk yellow, yellow-orange, red, violet, red, crimson, blue, and sky-blue shades respectively.
