Abstract
268,611. Reedy, J. H., and Lickert, W. J. July 14, 1926. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for. - A telescopic soot blower, which is extended by the force of the steam and which is adapted to be rocked to vary the direction of impact of the steam, comprises for example four tubes 14, 17, 18, 22 guided one upon the other by pins 15 engaging grooves 16, and provided with piston rings 18<a>, the set of tubes being rocked by means of a spur-wheel 12 and a chain 13. Steam enters through pipes 7, 8 and 9, the pipe 14 being connected to the supply pipes through a revoluble packing joint 10. Each of the elements of the telescoping structure is provided with jet-holes 30 of round or elongated form arranged preferably in a straight line. The blower is withdrawn by means of a chain 33 operated from a hand-wheel 36.
