268,320. Maschinenfabrik Elite Akt.- Ges. March 29, 1926, [Convention date]. Soap flakes are made by the action of a milling cutter on a rod of soap positively fed forward. In the device shown a milling cutter A is rotated rapidly while rods of soap B. B are pressed against it by slides G engaging screws E rotated by gearing C from the shaft of the cutter A. By changing the gear wheels C the rate of feeding the rods B and therefore the thickness of the flakes produced can be altered. Guiding frames H, with insets having transverse wires for subdividing the soap rods, are arranged immediately before the cutter A. In a modified apparatus the soap is fed direct from an extrusion press to the cutter.
