Abstract

267,541. Dresdener Etiquetten-Fabrik Schupp &. Nierth Akt.-Ges. March 10, 1926, [Convention date]. Photo-mechanical printing-surfaces; retouching. -For the production of flat printing surfaces for single or multi-colour printing, all the necessary tone and colour retouch is performed on screendiapositives by reducing or increasing the size of the screen points by photo-chemical reagents prior to obtaining negatives therefrom on inextensible film material, from which negatives the printing surface or surfaces are produced. Local intensification is effected by potassium and mercury iodide : and reduction by Farmer's reagent. For protecting parts not requiring modification black japan may be used, and subsequently removed by benzol. To obviate any continuing or after effect of the reducing solution a neutralizing solution of sodium bicarbonate mav be used. After the local retouching operations and washing and drying, those points of the dried diapositive which are to be printed not as points but as surfaces are rendered non-transparent with colour or ink.
