Abstract

267,413. Adler, F. June 4, 1926, [Convention date]. Platen machines; resist printing.-In a press for printing fabrics with a pattern in wax or other resist, the fabric to be printed and a fabric impregnated with the resist are fed forward intermittently by equal amounts and, between each feeding movement, are pressed together between a heated printing-plate and an impression plate, either or both of which are operated to make the impression. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, the web 2 to be printed and the impregnated web 7 pass together between the printing- plate 15, heated in any suitable manner, and a fixed elastic impression plate 14, and are fed forward by equal amounts by suitable gear 6, 13 connected to the feeding or winding drums 5, 12. Between each feeding operation the plate 15 is operated automatically, or, as shown, by a hand lever 19. The web 7 is preferably endless and passes through a bath 11 by which it is recharged with the resist. After leaving the bath, the web may be dried by causing it to take an extended path over a series of rollers or by subjecting it to a current of air supplied by a fan. Several lengths of fabric may be treated simultaneously, being passed side by side through the press and wound up on a single drum.
