Abstract

352,410. Finishing fabrics. PASTOR, F., 82, Uerdingerstrasse, Krefeld, Germany. April 7, 1930, No. 10994. [Class 42 (i).] Designs, producing.-Special moirÚ effects are produced on a long length of fabric, folded longitudinally on itself, by a pressing member which moves across the fabric in the direction of the weft. The fabric passes from a roll c between two heated pressure-rolls a, b arranged parallel to its direction of feed and is rewound on a roll d. The forward feed is intermittent and during the periods of rest the rolls c, d are moved axially and the rolls a, b correspondingly rotated so that the material situated between the pressure rolls has a moire effect produced thereon. During the return movement of the rolls c, d, the rolls a, b may be separated or given a reverse rotation so as to impart a second pressing to the piece of material being operated on. The fabric is then fed forward a distance slightly less than the length of the rolls a, b and the operation is repeated. The rolls c, d may be fixed and the rolls a, b given a transverse movement across the fabric. In a modification of the latter form, either of the rolls a, b may be replaced by a flat plate.
