Abstract
267,003. Nichols, C. R. Dec. 1, 1925. Centrifugal machines. - Reinforcement for pipes of cementitious material is supported in the moulds in which they are cast centrifugally by lugs, pins or the like of frangible or easily deformable material such as lead, wood, or plaster of Paris, the pins and the like, after the pipe is moulded, being either deformed so as to fit tightly in the pipe or removed and the resulting holes plugged. The deformable pins 61a, Fig. 1, comprise leaden cones cast on crossed tie wires 62 by which they are secured to the reinforcement 60. The pins support the reinforcement in the mould 7 and hold it spaced apart from the mould. Lugs 61<a>, Fig. 4, may carry pins 63 of wood or plaster of Paris. These pins are grooved at 64 and are removed from the moulded pipe, the resulting holes being then filled with lead or cement which is anchored by the ridges formed by the grooves 64. the ends of the circumferential reinforcement are secured together by a sheet metal member 67, Fig. 6, which is curved longitudinally and bent to U-section transversely. The ends of the member 67 are slotted at 68 to provide securing fingers 69 and slots to receive some of the longitudinal reinforcing wires. The pipe is moulded preferably as described in Specifications 266,807, 267,000, and 267,001. Specifications 160,551 and 217,227 also are referred to.
