266,436. Bruckhoff, A. M. Nov. 23, 1925. Addition to 241,314. Fats and fatty oils, extracting by solvents.- Raw wool, or waste wool containing fat or mineral oil, is degreased by drying to a water-content of 2-3 per cent, extracting in the liquid phase with a water-soluble mild grease solvent or solvents other than acetone which is referred to in the parent Specification, and washing with water to remove residual solvent and, when the fibres are treated so as to contain less than 2-5 per cent of fat, to substitute water for part of the extracted fat. Solvents specified are methyl acetate, methyl alcohol, and wood spirit. The aqueous solution of soap and potashes from the wool may be treated to obtain useful potassium compounds e.g. potashes.
