Fastenings for handbags. - The frame for the mouth of the bag comprising two members 1, 2 hinged together at 3, 4 has a sliding member 7 movable along one half of a track member 8 carried by member 2. Inturned portions 9, 10 of member 7 embrace the edges of the track 8, a plate-spring 13 may be interposed between members 7, 8 to give frictional sliding grip, and a stop is provided to prevent movement of member 7 past the centre of the track. The member 1 has a longitudinally extending portion 5 which terminates at A to leave a gap at one end, through which a down-turned portion 11 of member 7 is adapted to pass when member 7 is placed at that end and the bag closed. The portion 11 engages the edge of the portion 5 to hold the bag closed when member 7 is moved towards its central position. A modification is described in which member 7 is divided into two parts which are moved apart to pass through corresponding gaps at the ends of member 5, and moved into contiguity at the central position to hold the bag closed.
