Abstract

581,626. Window regulators. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., and JONES, A. E. E. Sept. 22, 1944, No. 18091. [Class 20 (iii)] Sliding windows, particularly for omnibuses &c. are held in adjusted position by two independent spring-influenced sliding bolts 7 at opposite sides of the upper part of the window, which engage racks &c. 4 and are disengaged therefrom by means of separate levers 16. The bolts are housed in a tubular rail 5 fixed to the top edge of the window 1 and downwardly-cranked parts 14 at the inner ends of rods 9 to which they are secured are engaged by a stud 20 carried by the respective lever 16 so that upward movement of the levers draws the rods 9 and bolts 7 inwardly to release their teeth 8 from the racks against the action of springs 11. The levers are noused in a box at the middle of the rail and carrying a thumb plate 22; or the finger levers may be disposed one near each side of the window. In a modification the bolts are pushed outwardly by a single central spring. The racks fixed in channels 2 secured to the body pillars 3 may be passed outwardly by blade or coiled springs and the side face of the channels may be detachable to permit ready removal of a window.
