Abstract
264,866. Porte, R. Jan. 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Atmospherics and undesired signals, eliminating or limiting; thermionic amplifiers and detectors. - Interference is eliminated by balancing the currents produced in two aerials, one being tuned to the signal and one to another frequency, frequency changing circuits being arranged to cause the frequencies used in the balancing circuit to be equal to one another. The Figure shows an aerial 1 tuned bv a condenser 2 to the signal connected to a high frequency amplifying valve 4 the output from which is changed in frequency by the two grid valve 9 and applied to the valve 25. Another aerial 20 tuned by condenser 21 to the intermediate frequency is connected to an amplifying valve 23 the output of which is also applied to the valve 25. The effects of the interference cancel and the signals are amplified by valves 26, 34 and detected by the valve 31. The energy collected by both aerials 1, 20 may be changed in frequency before being applied to a balancing circuit and any known means of frequency changing may be used.
