Abstract
264,546. Strauss, J. B. July 25, 1925. Fuselages; planes and the like; construction of. -The surface-covering for the bodies and wings of aircraft is composed of a metallic mesh the interstices of which are filled with a concrete composition, such as a mixture of cement and porous stone-like material, or mineralized sawdust, applied in a plastic state. Fig. 1 shows an aeroplane the fuselage of which is constructed of a skeleton framework comprising aluminium longerons 2 and bracing members 1, covered with a metal mesh 3 which is secured to the framework members and treated in the above manner. The wings also may be composed of a framework, comprising longerons, ribs, and bounding members, which is covered by upper and lower mesh surfaces connected at the edges, and then treated with the plastic composition. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12514/10; 2341/14, [Class 108 (i), Road vehicles, Body details &c. of], 125,655, and 142,082; 147,613 and 202,129, [both in Class 108 (i), Road vehicles, Body details &c. of].
