Bottling.-In a rotary bottling machine in which the bottle rests run on rollers around a track having an inclined portion, the machine is automatically stopped if the pressure on a bottle rest becomes abnormal, as, for instance, if a filling tube strikes a bottle lip instead of entering the bottle. The rollers e, Fig. 1, of the bottle rests d run on a track f having an inclined portion g displaceable therefrom against spring action when abnormal pressure is exerted on a bottle rest. As shown, the portion g pivots about an axis m parallel to itself and displaces a rod k connected to a switch for stopping the machine, but the portion g may have one end pivoted to the track f about an axis perpendicular to itself. When spring bottle rests are used, a stationary inclined rail h, Fig. 5, is disposed between the rests and the inclined portion of the track is pivoted to two links i pivoted on stationary vertical axes m. Normally the rail h is held in the inoperative position, with one of the links i abutting against a stop p, by a spring &c. o, but undue pressure moves the rail forwards and effects the stopping of the machine.
