Abstract

263,871. Chauviere, L., and Michel, G. Dec. 31, 1925, [Convention date]. Securing propellers on shafts. - In order to minimize the crushing action of keys on metal airoraft propellers secured to tapered shaft ends, particularly propellers having a magnesium base, a steel or other hard metal intermediate sleeve 5 is employed, whereby the frictional contact surface on the propeller hub 6 is increased. The taper of the shaft 1 may be 1 in 20 and that of the hub bore 1 in 10. The parts 1, 5, 6 are held together by a nut 3 and washer 8, and are further secured by keys 4, 7. The outer surface of the sleeve may be pyramidal, or both the inner and outer surfaces may be conical or pyramidal, in which last case the keys are omitted. Specifioation 23282(11 is referred to.
