Abstract

263,063. Wilson, T. Aug. 12, 1926. Protectors.-A shield to protect the edge of a lady's hat from being soiled by contact with the neck or head of the wearer consists of a spring clip comprising a protective inner shield A and an outer ornamental shield B. The device is slipped over the lower rear edge of the hat. In the case of a hat provided with a brim, a slot may be cut to allow the shield to be positioned. The shield may be of resilient material, or may comprise two hinged parts pressed together by a spring. Wings A<1> may be left on the inner portion to allow the lower edge to be cut in conformity with the configuration of the edge of the hat. Holes may be provided in the shield to allow stitching to the hat. The outer member may be embossed, enamelled, or of filigree workmanship, set with jewels or covered with braid.
