Abstract

Winding - machines; spindle-driving apparatus; thread guides.- In winding - machines wherein the spindles are driven at a variable speed and the thread guide is oscillated about a pivot situated midway of the chase and in a plane parallel to the generating line of the cone of the bobbin, the thread passes to the eye 20 through the axis of oscillation of the guide lever 18. A slotted bracket 14 engages one arm of the guide lever 18 and is operated by means of an adjustable lever system 4 and links 10 from a cam 3 driven from the spindle-driving shaft 1. One of the shafts 12, which form the pivots of the levers 10, moves the shaft 1 longitudinally through an adjustable lever arrangement to vary the speed of the spindles. The pivot 17 of the guide-lever is carried by a sleeve 15 which is slidable on a rod 16 and is moved therealong as the bobbin is built by means of a bowl 45 adapted to contact with the yarn. The bowl 45 is carried by a sleeve 46, Fig. 5, provided with three recesses in which are mounted balls 47 normally maintained in contact with the threads of a traverse screw by a spring-pressed sleeve 50, and, as it is rotated by contact with the bobbin, moves along the screw and raises a sleeve 23 which is held by springs against a finger 24 on the guidelever 18. The balls are freed from the screw when it is desired to adjust the nut by depressing the sleeve 50. The traverse screw is carried by a lever 26 which may be provided with adjustable stops so that it may set in position for the bowl to make contact with the bobbin or to be moved away therefrom. The guide 20 is pivoted to the lever 18 so that it may be turned outwards to allow the removal of the bobbin.
