Piling.-Sheet piling for use in the construction of hollow or box walls comprises a pile member adapted to be connected to a second member of similar shape to form a box, each member having means for detachable connection of at least two cross members and having also inwardly and outwardly directed claws at opposite edges for connecting it with the corresponding members of the adjacent boxes of the wall. The connecting means may consist of pairs of claws or grooves for the reception of the flanges constituting the cross members. In the example shown, the pile members a, a have smooth outer sides b, the inner sides being provided with claws c arranged in pairs to form grooves in which engage the flanges of I sections which form the cross members. Heavier I sections may be used with a short separation of the claws c by shortening the flanges of the sections. The members a are provided at one end with an outward angular bend f, forming pairs of claws by means of which one box unit can be connected to the adjacent unit. The units are assembled as shown prior to ramming.
