Abstract

261,606. White, A. P. March 20, 1926. Reinforced paper. - A machine for making paper lathing reinforced by rods or wires comprises a series of crimping devices C, Fig. 1, in which one sheet of paper is grooved to receive wires W from a straightener S, a bottom sheet being applied at consolidating rolls F, F' after passing over a pasting roller E, and the compound sheet then rolled by grooved rollers 20 on a table T. The lathing is drawn through by rollers M, M<1> which have a peripheral speed slightly greater than that of the rollers 20. A heater H may be placed between the rollers F, M and may contain the rollers 20. The paper from reels A, B is guided by rollers D which are adjustable horizontally and vertically. Each crimping device consists of a grooved former 9, Fig. 4, and adjustable formers 11, all three tapering longitudinally towards the exit end as shown in plan in Fig. 2.
