Abstract

261,315. Barnes, E. Aug. 14, 1926. Spectacles. - Spectacle sides, ear loops and like devices for securing spectacles in position are provided with a flexible spring portion to engage the inner side of the lobe of the ear. The lobe end spring portion 9 is connected to the stiper hook portion 10 by a part 15 which is of greater flexibility than either, and at the same time projects out from the plane of remainder to press against the ear as shown in Fig. 4. In this example the hook portion 10 together with the spring portion are formed of a helically coiled spring the flexible portion being formed by a gradual increase in diameter of the coil until it encloses the wire 8 which does not extend into this part of the spectacle side. In a modification the spring portion 9 is an extension of a simple wire loop. Specifications 157,004, 186,003, and 261,314 are referred to.
