261,168. Reed, G. M. V. Oct. 26, 1925. Spigot-and-socket joints held by cement and the like.-Relates to spigot-and-socket joints for earthenware &c. pipes of the kind in which the spigot D has a tapered end G adapted to engage with a tapered part B of the socket C and between which is introduced a plastic cement L, and wherein the socket member is further provided with a part for the reception of Portland cement M. In order to key the plastic cement L and provide spaces into which it will compress, without exuding into the invert of the drain, upon making the joint, some or all of the tapered and abutting surfaces A, B, F, G are provided with grooves, projections, &c. E, H. Specifications 18862/91 and 10330/93 are referred to.
