Abstract

261,086. Myers, H. A. Aug. 11, 1925. Inhalers.-An apparatus for administering medicinal gas comprises a container 5 adapted to contain gas-producing reagents, e.g. a solid 6 and a liquid contained in a frangible receptacle 7, connected by a stem 12 to a mask 13. The reagents are packed in a cylinder 8 of paper or the like closed by a disc 9 of porous sponge rubber having radial slots at the centre to permit the passage therethrough of a prong 11 carried by the stem 12 and adapted to rupture the receptacle 7. A perforated disc 17 of hard rubber is pressed against the disc 9 by a shoulder 16 on the stem. The stem is provided with an air inlet passage opening into the upper part of the container 5 and with a mixture outlet passage 26, both passages being controlled by a valve 27, and the mask is provided with air inlet holes 30, controlled by a shutter 31, and with an exhalation valve 23.
