Electric transformers; phase, changing. - A transmitter for an electric distant control system comprises a stationary inductive-winding connected to the segments of a commutator with which co-operates a set of movable brushes connected to the transmission wires. As shown in Fig. 1, the transmitter comprises a set of brushes 7, 8, 9 rotatable by a hand wheel 17 and co-operating with the commutator 2 connected to a winding 1 evenly distributed around a magnetic yoke 3. The winding 1 is supplied from polyphase mains. Displacement of the brushes adjusts the phase of the currents in the transmission wires to cause the operation of a receiver motor into a repeating position. Fig. 3 shows a modification wherein two sets of brushes 40, 41, 42 and 45, 46, 47 are independently rotatable on the commutator 39 by hand-wheels 44, 49. The winding is supplied through the brushes 40, 41, 42 and the brushes 45, 46, 47 are connected to the transmission wires. There the phase of the currents in the transmission wires may be adjusted by each set of brushes. In a further modification the single winding may be replaced by two windings which act as a two winding transformer. Specification 259,187 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the control system may be supplied with single phase current. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
