Abstract

260,367. Smith, H. B. Aug. 10, 1925. Clamps, screw.-A clamp for attachment to a cable, described as used for supporting a fitting such as an arm carrying an overhead electric cable, comprises an externally threaded member A with a slot in which the cable B is placed, the base of the slot being shaped as shown to kink the cable, which is clamped by a nut C screwing on to member A. The base of the nut is coned to conform with the kink, but preferably gripping less tightly near the periphery to minimise risk of breakage of the cable, and also has corrugations c<2> which, by engaging the cable, prevent the nut from working loose. The arm E supporting the electric cable (not shown) may be integral with member A or attached thereto as by a rivet F<1>.
