Abstract

Inkstands.-An ink bottle of the type fitted with a removable dipping-well supplied with ink by tilting the bottle is formed with a cylindrical neck provided with a stopper, and the dipping-well is formed with an external flange on the upper end, to retain the well either within or beneath the neck, and with lateral ink ports. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the bottle a is formed with an elongated neck b. and the well c has a cylindrical or slightly tapered flange c<1> engaging the wall of the neck so that the well is supported within the neck. The body of the well is cylindrical or slightly tapered, and is closed at the bottom and provided with lateral ink ports c<2> in the wall near the top; alternatively the openings may be provided in the flange c<1>. In another construction, the bottle has an ordinary short cylindrical neck, and is formed at the bottom of the neck with an internal flange to provide a seating for the flange on the well, which in this case projects below the neck. Fig. 5 shows a modified shape of well, having a tapered shoulder c<5> beneath the flange c<1>.
