Working-fluid supply. - A plant comprising steam generators and steam consumers works in " the wet steam area.," and steam drying is effected Without addition of heat, initial and intermediate superheating being dispensed with. Liquid is heated "under super-saturation pressure " in a boiler 2 and conveyed to a valve 4 where it is throttled, the resulting mixture of steam and liquid being conducted to a dryer 5. Steam from the vessel 5 is passed through a throttle valve 6 and a dryer 7 to the first stage 11 of the prime mover, from which it flows to an accumulator 13. Thence dry steam flows to the stage 15, the wet steam from which is received by an accumulator 17, which supplies dry steam to a further stage 19 discharging into a condenser 20. The condensate is conveyed by a pump 21 to the accumulator 17, the excess liquid of which is forced by a pump 22 into the accumulator 13. Liquid from the vessels 5, 7, 13 is conducted to the corresponding pressure stages of a pump 8 which feeds the boiler through a pre-heater 10. In all stages of the process the dried steam may be superheated by throttling. It is stated that the steam may be dried (1) by introducing it into an accumulator supplying dry steam, (2) by baffle surfaces, (3) by passing it through hot water of the same temperature, or (4) by the introduction of superheated steam.
