Description

COVER HOOD FOR A DOOR OR WINDOW DRIVE
The present invention relates to a cover hood for a door or window drive, which is U-shaped in cross-section, having a front plate forming the base of the U and side plates each forming a leg of the U, between which a receiving space for the drive is formed.
The drive can be a mechanical, an electrical, a hydraulic and/or an automatic drive, which acts in the closing and/or opening direction.
In known door drives, such as door closers, the door drive is covered by a cover hood which is U-shaped in cross-section. In addition, the end-face ends of the door drive can be covered by an end-face cover. This gives the drive an attractive external appearance.
Cover hoods for the drives mentioned are often only assembled on site. Due to their U-shaped design, they take up a relatively large amount of space during transportation to the installation site.
The object of the invention is to reduce the space required by cover hoods of the type mentioned for transportation. At the same time, simple assembly is to be facilitated.
This object is achieved by a cover hood of the type mentioned above, in which the two side plates are each articulated to the front plate.
Due to this embodiment, the cover hood can be folded up for transportation. This means that the two side plates are pivoted for transportation into a position in which they are arranged at least substantially parallel to the front plate. The side plates are then pivoted into their assembly position on site and the cover hood is mounted on the drive.
Between the mutually facing edges of the front plate and the respective side plate, there is in each case a swivel joint or the mutually facing edges are preferably moulded connecting elements which interact as a swivel joint. In this way, an ar-ficulated connection between the front plate and the two side plates can be provided in a suitable manner.
The two side plates are each pivotable relative to the front plate between a transport position, in which the side plates are aligned substantially parallel to the front plate, and a mounting position, in which the side plates form a substantially right angle with the front plate.
According to a particular embodiment of the invention, a locking device for the transport position and/or for the mounting position is provided. This facilitates the correct positioning of the side plates relative to the front plate for transportation and assembly.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the side plates of the hood are slightly V-shaped in the mounting position relative to the front plate. As a result, a prestress for pushing the hood onto the drive housing can be achieved.
The front plate and the side plates are particularly preferably made of the same material, in particular steel or aluminium, and/or are produced by the same method, in particular as a profile, preferably an extrusion profile. This enables a particu-larly appealing external appearance to be achieved. Due to the same manufacturing process, there are in particular no manufacturing-related colour differences.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the cover hood according to the invention is designed in such a way that it is optionally placeable, in particular clippable, directly onto a drive housing or a mounting plate for a drive housing.
This results in further advantageous mounting options without the need to provide different hoods.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the articulated connections between the front plate and the two side plates, in particular the swiv-el joints, can be mounted and/or detached on site. This results in a modular construction of the cover hood, which makes it possible to assemble cover hoods differently from a front plate and two side plates. In particular, the cover hood can be assembled for a specific mounting position, DIN left or DIN right stop as well as on the door or window sash or overhead on the associated frame or a wall. The front plate can always be aligned in the same way, so that the front plate only has to be labelled in a simple form. In addition, only one of the two side plates has to be provided with a cutout or a section which can be broken out to form a cutout in order to couple the drive located in the hood to a power transmission element located outside the hood.
According to a further development of the invention, the articulated connections can be designed in particular as plug-in, clip-in or snap-in connections. This results in simple assembly on site. In addition, the connections can thereby simply be de-signed as releasable connections.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one of the two connecting elements cooperating as a swivel joint is partially circular in cross-section and accommodates the other connecting element, which has an outer circumference in the form of a circular section, with rotary bearings. In this way, a rotary bearing can be realised in a particularly advantageous manner by the two connecting elements.
The opening of the rotary bearing connecting element is preferably designed as a snap-in receptacle for the other connecting element. As a result, the two connect-ing elements can be clipped together or snapped together to form the rotary bearing.
According to a further advantageous development of the invention, the two edges of the opening of the rotary bearing connecting element are each designed as a rotary stop for the other connecting element or the plate thereof. This enables the correct position of the side plate relative to the front plate to be ensured both in the transport position and in the mounting position.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, a positional and/or transport lock is provided which secures the mutually connected plates against shifting relative to one another and/or knocking together. This can prevent damage to the plates. There is also no rattling or slipping of the profiles relative to one another. Separate protective films or spacers are no longer required.
According to an advantageous development of this embodiment, the positional and/or transport lock is designed as a clip which is clippable onto one of the plates. This allows a simple and cost-effective mounting of the lock.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the drawing and are de-scribed below. It can be seen, in each case in a schematic representation, that Figure 1 shows an end face view of a cover hood according to the invention in the mounted state, Figure 2 shows the hood of Figure 1 in the transport state.
Figure 3 shows the hood of Figure 1 clipped onto a drive with a mounting plate, Figure 4 shows the hood of Figure 1 clipped directly onto a drive, Figure 5 shows the front plate of the hood of Figure 1 separately, Figure 6 shows a side plate of the hood of Figure 1 separately, Figure 7 shows the swivel joint between the front and side plates in the mounting position of the hood, Figure 8 shows the swivel joint in the transport position of the hood, Figure 9 shows a detail of a further embodiment of the invention with positional and transport lock in the transport position of the cover hood, Figure 10 shows a detail of Figure 9 in an enlarged view, and Figure 11 shows a perspective view of the cover hood with positional and transport lock of Figure 9.
Figures 1 to 8 show a cover hood according to an embodiment of the invention.
The cover hood consists of a front plate 1 and two side plates 2, 3. The front plate 1 and the side plates 2, 3 are each manufactured as separate parts and provided with connecting elements 4, 5, via which the two side plates 2, 3 are connected to the front plate 1. The connecting elements 4, 5 together each form snap-in con-nection means, so that the side plates 2, 3 can be easily connected to the front plate on site by being clipped into their connecting elements 4.
On the side of the front plate 1, the connecting elements 4 are designed as recep-tacles which are partially circular in cross-section, and on the side of the side plates 2, 3 they are also designed to be partially circular in cross-section, but with a smaller radius such that the outer circumference of the connecting elements 5 is slightly larger than the opening of the partially circular connecting elements 4. Due to the elastic design of the connecting elements 4 and/or the connecting elements 5, the connecting elements 5 can snap into the connecting elements 4. An elastic embodiment can be achieved, for example, in that the front plate and/or the side plates 2, 3 are made of plastic.
Due to the partially circular embodiment of the connecting elements 4, 5, these each jointly form a swivel joint 6. As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the side plates 2, 3 can thereby be pivoted relative to the front plate 1 in such a way that in one end position the side plates 2, 3 extend parallel to the front plate 1, while in the other end position they form a substantially U-shaped hood.
As can be seen in Figure 1, the swivel joints 6 are designed in such a way that the side plates 2, 3 are slightly V-shaped in relation to the front plate 1 in the open end position. For this purpose, the connecting elements 4, 5 have interacting first stop edges 7, 8. The folded end position shown in Figure 2 is also defined by interacting second stop edges 9, 10 on the connecting elements 4, 5. Due to the V-shaped adjustment of the side plates 2, 3 and the elasticity of the swivel joints 6 or the side plates 2, 3 themselves, the hood according to the invention can be snapped onto a drive 11 and a base plate 12 with prestress, as is shown in Fig- ures 3 and 4. The side plates 2, 3 have at their free edges inwardly facing ribs 13 which interact with corresponding shoulders on the drive housing 11 or the base plate 12 as a snap-in connection. The shoulders on the base plate 12 have the reference number 14, and the shoulders on the drive housing 11 have the refer-ence number 15.
As can be seen in particular in Figures 7 and 8, the swivel joints 6 are designed with locking devices. These are realised in that a projecting rib 16 is formed on the outer circumference of the connecting elements 5 of the side plates 2, 3 and two flat grooves 17, 18 are moulded on the inner circumference of the connecting ele-ments 4. In the open position of the hood, the rib 16 is in the first groove 17, and in the folded position, the rib 16 is in the second groove 18. Due to the elastic embodiment of the swivel joints 6, the rib 16 snaps respectively into the grooves 17 and 18, depending on the rotational position, in a locking manner.
Figures 9 to 11 show finally a positional and transport lock 47 which can be at-tached to a hood according to the invention. As shown, the lock 47 can be placed on a rib 48 provided on the inside of the front plate 1. The lock forms a stop for the side plates 2, 3 in their folded position, whereby rattling can be prevented during transportation. In addition, a section 49 extends around the folded-in side plates 2, 3, so that they remain in this position. This can prevent the hood from being opened unintentionally. Even when the hood is in the open position, the positional and transport lock 47 prevent the front plate 1 and the side plates 2, 3 from moving relative to one another.
