Abstract
257,453. Verhagen, P. Nov. 9, 1925. R÷ntgen-ray and vacuum tubes.-In attaching exhaust tubes to stem tubes at a point distant from the stem-press 4 where the arbor 3 and the leading-in wires are fused in, the part of the stem tube 6 adjacent the end of the exhaust tube 2 is heated and fused to this tube while the heated portion of the stem tube is simultaneously perforated by compressed air or vacuum, with or without the aid of a mechanical tool, the heated zone being confined within such limits by using a pointed flame 7 that accumulation of glass at the junction is avoided. The junction may be located at the flange 10 of the tube 6.
