Abstract

257,387. Garman, B. C., and Oliver, C. July 17, 1925. Switches, quickaction; contacts. - A rotary reversible step-bystep quick-action switch has one " off " and four operative positions and may be used for example to connect two resistances X and Y into circuit either singly or in series or in pairs of so as to provide four different resistances. The switch comprises five fixed terminals D spaced at equal angular intervals and carrying contacts arranged at different heights as shown in Fig. 2, and a rotatable member F carrying an upper series of four connected contacts H, a lower series of four connected contacts J, a contact K connected to the series H, and two contacts L connected to the series J. the contacts K, L being arranged in different planes from those of the series H and J. The circuit is connected to the terminals 2 and 4, and Fig. 2 shows the " off " position in which there is no electrical connection between these terminals. The quick-action mechanism of the switch is described in Specification 257,376.
