Metal, preventing oxidation of, during melting.-Molten baths of easily oxidizable metals such as magnesium are protected from oxidation by means of a layer of the fluoride of the metal, or other fluoride, or a chloride such as ammonium chloride, such layer being further covered with a layer of sulphur.
