Abstract
257,140. Pfanhauser, W. A. F., and Langbein-Pfanhauser-Werke Akt.- Ges. Nov. 30, 1925. Metals, pickling; metals, removing; iron, depositing; treatment after electrolysis; coloured surfaces., producing. - Rustless iron or steel is provided with an adherent burnish by electrolytic deposition of a layer of iron and subsequent oxidation, the deposition being preceded by anodic treatment to remove constituents which would prevent adhesion. The anodic treatment may take place in the plating bath, or in a solution of ammonium chloride or sulphate with or without free mineral acids, or in a solution of neutral iron salts together with other neutral conducting salts.
