Abstract
256,649. Hazeltine Corporation, (Assignees of Hazeltine, L. A.). Feb. 27, 1925, [Convention date]. Thermionic amplifiers.-In a thermionic amplifier the components or wiring are so arranged as to introduce an inherent capacity adapted to neutralize at least part of the inherent undesirable coupling. The desired capacity may be provided by placing the tuning condensers adjacent to one another and the amount may be adjusted by movement of an electrostatic shield or screen. Alternatively the capacity existing between coils and transformers may be utilized. Fig. 1 shows an earth shield S arranged between the high potential terminal of coil LS1, and the apparatus connected to the grid of the value A1 to produce a natural capacity Cn to give neutralization as described in Specifications 222,895 and 223,181. In addition, to neutralize the coupling between the input of one value and the input of another a neutralizing winding may be coupled to the input inductance s and a wire therefrom arranged adjacent the input of the second valve. Alternatively a wire may be connected to the plate of the second valve and arranged adjacent the input of the first valve. Specifications 119,365, 231,820, 238,256, and 248,311 are also referred to.
