Abstract

315,399. Hazeltine Corporation, (Assignees of Trube, C. E.). July 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 273,639. Thermionic amplifiers. - In a radio-frequency coupling system of the type described in the parent Specification in which the voltage ratio varies automatically with frequency means are provided for securing the desired ratio by arranging that the primary circuit is resonant at a frequency lower, but not greatly lower, than the lowest operating frequency. Fig. 1 shows a coupling system including an inductance L3 and condensers C3, C5 in parallel and a magnetic non- conductive coupling to the resonant circuit L2, C2 comprising L1, C5 in series. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the circuit is re-arranged so that the voltage of the plate source is not across condensers C3, C5. Fig. 3 shows a system in which the coil L3 is coupled to the resonant circuit L2, C2 and is made resonant by a condenser C5 to a frequency lower than the lowest operating frequency and connected between the anode and the primary coil L1. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a coupling system, Fig. 1 (Cancelled) having a high step up between the primary or secondary circuit in which the primary circuit L1, C5, L3 is resonant at a frequency below the lowest operating frequency. An additional capacity may be provided in the primary circuit in parallel to the condenser C5 and the coil L1. Fig. 7 (Cancelled) shaws a modification in which the coil L3 is coupled to the transformer L1, L2, the coupling of coils L2, L3 resulting in a more gradual variation with frequency of the voltage ratio E2/E1. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
