Cams. - In cam mechanism for the valve gear of internal. coxnbustion engines, in which the cam is located on one cr both sides of a timing gear wheel, the gear 5 is perforated in accordance with the shape of the cam 2, and secured thereon by a press fit, shrinking or other suitable rneans, with or without the use of a pin or feather The cam portion 2 is of uniform section from end to end and may be cut from a long bar of the required cross-section, being hardened and ground and bored at 3 for mounting on a fixed spindle. Dogs 4 may be provided for driving an accessory.
