256,332. Rowe, J. J. May 8, 1925. Condensers have means for moving the end vane of a series of fixed vanes relatively to the series both of fixed and moving vanes for fine adjustment purposes. The movable vane C is movable or deflectable with respect to the movable and fixed vanes A, B and, as shown, is mounted by one corner on a spindle C<1> passing through the pillar D, the latter being shortened and supported on end plates by means of a strap or bracket G. The end of the spindle C<1> enters a socket H and in addition to its pivotal movement the vane C may be moved away from the other vanes by giving the spindle a fine screw thread adapted to engage a thread in the socket H. The spindle C may be mounted alongside the pillar D instead of passing through it and may also have an index scale. In another form, the spindle C<1> may engage the free end of the vane C to deflect or move it.
