Abstract

256,325. Murdoch, A. G. May 7, 1925. Window blinds, supporting- frames for.-Shop roller blinds are drawn out and supported by an arrangement of jointed pivoted arms in which a secondary arm carrying the lath, beam or the like to which the outer end of the blind is attached, is pivoted to a primary arm and moved in relation thereto by mechanical gearing operated by the movements of the primary arm about its pivot. Preferably a set of pivoted arms supports each end of the lath or beam but in light constructions a single centrally disposed set may suffice. In the arrangement shown, a tubular primary arm 10 is pivoted by means of trunnions 11 in a fixed casing 13 and carries a toothed sector 9 through which it is moved about its pivot by a manually or power operated driving pinion 8. A shaft 16 rotatably mounted in the tubular arm 10 carries at the inner end a pinion 17 which, when the arm 10 is moved, rolls on a fixed rack 18 to rotate the shaft, thereby transmitting movement through bevel gears 19, 22 to the secondary arm 20 pivoted on a pin 21 carried by the outer end of the arm 10. The articulation may be enclosed in a casing 23 which may be in sections. The shaft 16 may be carried externally to the arm 10. The Provisional Specification states that any type of gearing may be employed, such as toothed, bevel, worm, or sprocket-and-chain gearing or combinations thereof.
